  • In business for over 20 years, Harold the Jewellery Buyer is well known for his ads offering to buy your gold jewellery. More recently, Mr. Harold Gerstel has been offering get you approved for a mortgage. He is a large player on the Toronto Gold Buyer scene. Unfortunately, most of his public reviews have been negative. The store has also been involved in some scandal.  Whoever you may be, we highly recommend being ready to bargain hard here. Be ready to walk away. If after you know what you gold if worth, e.g. our Free Gold Value Report, you can’t get close to a fair price (including profit for the store), just don’t do it. We are looking for five points in our Harold the Jewellery Buyer Review: Price Paid, Service, Store & Location, Transparency, and Value Added Services.

What We Liked in our Harold the Jewellery Buyer Review

In September of 2016, Gold.TO visited Harold the Jewellery Buyer. What we can say is that their pricing is roughly average. To be fair, we always expect to haggle, and that’s probably why (after negotiating) we got around $650 for roughly $900 worth of gold. We also like the fact they don’t take themselves too seriously. Harold the Jewellery Buyer makes it onto Toronto’s best gold buyers largely because of their advertising. They have a convenient location in the mid-town Bathurst and Lawrence neighbourhood. They offer some value-added services, principally, loans and mortgages.

Future Improvements in a Harold the Jewellery Buyer Review?

Harold the Jewellery Buyer could do with some interior decorating. A beaten-up couch and a bicycle do not make for an inviting atmosphere. Their staff could also do with some improved attire. Our seller did not feel safe in their stores. This is echoed in a complaintsboard.com review, and the that as of January 5th 2017, all reviews on Yelp are negative. We did not receive an invoice after our sale.

An area of improvement would be not having employees call their boss mid-transaction, in a different language. This makes your customers feel that your business is much less honest. When we were selling gold in Toronto, our experience here was overwhelmingly mediocre. We say that by standards unique to gold buying. Addressing these issues would make Harold the Jewellery buyer a more sustainable and reputable industry.

Harold the Jewellery Buyer can be reached at (647) 400-4653. They are located a couple blocks south of Lawrence Ave., at 3016 Bathurst St., in Toronto, Ontario. Oliver Jewellery also has stores in the GTA cities of Oakville, Pickering, and Woodbridge.

I was recommended this place by a friend who told me she sold all her gold to Harold at a great price. I was looking forward to getting more than I was offered but still sold my old jewelerry.

The gentleman who was helping me out was very rude and did not seem to want to offer a good price. He seemed very sketchy and I was not comfortable when I was trying to sell my gold and silver jewelry. I did not even want to hear his second offer as his attitude and customer service was unacceptable! I do not recommend going here to sell your items!
