Place Category: Cash for Gold
Omni Jewelcrafters entered the cash for gold business around May of 2009. Owner Mr. Jack Berkowitz has yet to mirror the ultra-seedy advertisements of some of his competitors. With five locations in the GTA (Omni’s Vaughan location is closing), you might wonder if they have been more successful in an otherwise competitive business? Our own experience and that mirrored by some customers has been generally mediocre. To be frank, while they promise to pay you more, and sometimes do, they more often don’t. According to one Jen Selk, she was offered $110 for roughly what was probably worth at least $1500 new, and probably at least $200 otherwise. What we did find interesting was a mention of a cafe inside their Bathurst location. We are writing this Omni Jewelcrafters Review with five points in mind: Price Paid, Service, Store & Location, Transparency, and Value Added Services.
The Good: Where Omni Jewelcrafters Works
The thing we like about Omni Jewelcrafters is their array of services: from jewellery and watches to auction-style sales and custom designs. We enjoy the fact this is not somewhere you walk in with your old gold, and walk out with some cash and a bad taste in your mouth. Furthermore, their locations are generally central and convenient. Their three main locations are in Toronto, Oshawa, and Mississauga. The Toronto location – to some people’s befuddlement – also serves as a cafe. Omni is a place you will get a very average price for your jewellery, especially if you have not gone out of your way to get several quotes. They are a legitimate establishment with a nice store to browse in. With that in mind, this is not the fanciest jewellery store you will find in the city. Nor is it one where – in our experience – you will be given more buck for your bling, off the bat.
What Would Improve Our Omni Jewelcrafters Review?
The first thing we want to see is better prices and more transparency. For example, in the style of some more recent stores, Omni would benefit from open gold pricing practises. Just tell the customer what they pay, per gram, along with the price. Better yet, tell your customers how much of the spot price they are getting. That way, they can compare it to other stores. Next, in an industry where nearly everyone feels bad about selling their gold, why not work extra hard to improve your service? Oren needs to work on two things. The first of these is paying more to his customers. By all means, Omni’s service and quality exceed some of their competitor’s. In an article sorrounding the cash for gold battle with Harold the Jewellery Buyer, Mr. Berkovitz claimed that Harold’s poor service was instrumental in his entering in cash for gold. As a note, this was followed up with the alleged arson by Omni against Harold.
You will find Omni Jewelcrafter’s Toronto location at 2793 Bathurst St. If you’d like to reach them by phone, call (416) 783-2091.

10 Reviews on “Omni Jewelcrafters Review”
After being recommended to Omni Jewelcrafters, I am rather upset with my experience there. I was told that they were fair when evaluating jewelry however, they only seemed to offer the bare minimum for my silver and refused to show me how they test the gold jewellery. It seemed rather sketchy especially for a well known establishment such as Omni.
The individual at omni jewelcrafters was polite but seemed rather sketchy when offering prices and a value for my broken jewellery. I was interested to see what he would offer for something I knew was appraised (which i told him) at $4000 and he only offered $800 and when he jumped up to $1100 he told me that his first offer is always the lowest! Why would he say that? Was NOT impressed with the service.
I thought I would have a better experience here than most because they’re so well-known but I was not impressed in the least little bit with the offer they made me.
I didn’t know that this place served food so I was a little thrown off, but the service was really slow, I guess don’t come here when its busy.
The price they gave me was a little less than what I thought it would be and the staff were pretty slow, I’d come here again but probably just for the food.
DON’T GO HERE! They’ll Rip you off!
This place was okay and friendly no real complaints I’ll come here again
I see so many hot and cold reviews for this place but its straight down the middle, price wasnt bad, customer service was on par, i had zero concerns selling, would probably go again
In desperation I needed to sell some jewelry passed down from one generation to the next. I felt incredibly guilty selling things that had been in my family for years, but Omni made me confortable in selling and they gave me an offer just a little lower than what I was expecting, but again, desperate times. I didn’t find myself walking into any surprises working with them, they were very nice and honest and if I had to do it again, I’d go to Omni.
What a sketchbag
