Place Category: Cash for Gold
Our review of Pinto Gold Buyers, that is, our Pinto Gold and Jewellery Review, is generally less negative than some of its competitors. According to them, they have two generations of industry experience. Subtract the word-smithing and these are jewellers who have a good location, tend to pay good prices for gold, and offer a few value added services and sales, too. A brief look at their online reviews shows that they have generally positive reviews on Google, an “I will never go into Pinto Jewelry again” on Yelp, and other mixed reviews. These days, it can be hard to tell what’s real and what’s not, so we will go by our standard metrics and our own experience. We are basing this Pinto Gold Review on five separate metrics: Price Paid, Service, Store & Location, Transparency, and Value Added Services.
Why Choose to Sell Your Gold and Jewellery at Pinto Cash for Gold?
There are three factors in favour of Pinot: generally fair prices, a comfortable store and location, and plenty to do. Let’s look at the first one. Based on our sale to Pinto, we received roughly 30% below the melt value of our gold jewellery. That comes to $700 on $1000 worth of gold. Given all the factors involved in refining, that’s a more-or-less reasonable price.
Second, this is not a place where you will find people wearing A-shirts (“wife-beaters”) and track pants. As a legitimate jewellery store, they are not here to intimidate you into selling your gold. You will, however, find a nice looking smaller store with plenty of mirrors and traditional jewelry displays. This is great you prefer that kind of environment to sell your gold, or Rolex, as they like to advertise. The location is a convenient 550m from the Eglinton subway station, at Yonge and Eglinton. This convenient location services a number of Toronto neighbourhoods including Midtown, Lytton Park, and Leaside.
Third, they buy about the same things as everyone: antique gold, coins, and Rolex watches, are a staple of cash for gold. Pinto also offers jewellery and watch repair. On-top of that, they also sell much of what they buy directly in store. That means, like Oliver, you can purchase everything from luxury handbags to wedding sets.
A Better Yet Pinto Gold and Jewellery Review
Pinto is in an interesting spot. They don’t have any quick fixes because they tend to take good care of themselves. If Pinto wants to improve, they need to add more locations, pay better prices, and offer more services. The cash for gold business is a hard place to make money, and that’s probably why Pinto does not deal exclusively in it. On the other hand, if you want to do something, you should want to do it really well. That means having a very clear system for buying gold.
As a jeweller, Pinto is in a unique place. They can in-fact purchase and re-use your gold themselves. That ability is driven by consumer demand for custom jewellery. The two have a positive relationship. To improve its store, we would recommend a cleaner, more modern look. We would also recommend not advertising the purchase of antiques on their website unless they intend to purchase old toy sets along with antique jewellery. Finally, we like Pinto’s value added services such as the opportunity buy used watches. Yet, many of these high-end purchases are highly outdated designs.
