The price drops.
You decide when to buy.

gold.to runs on a reverse auction model. Every item starts at full price and drops on a fixed schedule — the longer you wait, the less you pay. But if someone else buys first, it's gone.

Prices drop, then reset

Within each 16-day cycle, prices only move down through the tiers. Once the cycle ends, the price resets to the starting amount and begins again.

Patience is rewarded

Wait long enough and you can get significantly below the starting price. The tradeoff: someone else might buy it first.

Every item listed on gold.to runs on a repeating 16-day cycle. There are five price tiers. Once the cycle ends the price resets to the starting amount and begins again.

Illustrative price curve — actual discounts vary by item

1
Days 0 – 2

Starting price Full price

The item lists at its starting price. No discount yet. Great condition, full selection.

2
Days 3 – 5

First discount 5–15% off

A meaningful first drop. Still early in the cycle, so competition is higher.

3
Days 6 – 8

Bigger discount 15–30% off

The price is now materially below starting. A strong window for most buyers.

4
Days 9 – 11

Deep discount 30–45% off

Getting into serious savings territory. The risk of someone buying first is real.

5
Days 12 – 15

Floor price 45–55% off

The lowest price this item will ever reach in the cycle. After day 15, the price resets to the start and the cycle repeats.

The reset

After day 15 the price snaps back to its starting amount and the 16-day cycle begins again. If you waited too long this cycle, you'll have another shot next cycle — or buy now at the current price before someone else does.

What if the item sells before I'm ready to buy?

It's gone — that's how a reverse auction works. Each item is one of a kind. If you want to maximise your chances, buy when you see a price you're happy with rather than waiting for the floor.

Can I buy at the current price right now?

Yes. The Buy Now button on any product page purchases it immediately at the current tier price. You don't have to wait for any future tier.

Does the price ever go back up mid-cycle?

Within a cycle, yes — prices only move down through the tiers. But at the end of day 15 the price resets to the starting amount for the next cycle. So the price never goes up mid-cycle, only at the reset.

How do I know when a price is about to drop?

Every product page shows a live countdown to the next tier drop, the full price schedule with exact dates, and a price history chart. You always know exactly where you are in the cycle.

Are all prices in Canadian dollars?

All prices on the site are shown in CAD. For gold items on spot-linked pricing, the displayed price updates with movements in the gold spot price.
